2019 was a whirlwind for the FiXT Team, racking up thousands of miles traveled to industry events and conferences, business meetings, fan meet-ups and more. Here’s a recap of some of the highlights from the year!
SPACESHIP RELOCATION / NEW BIRTH
FiXT president & founder, Klayton (Celldweller / Scandroid / Circle of Dust) officially relocated from Detroit to Los Angeles in 2019, marking the relocation project of his Spaceship studio. After settling in LA, FiXT announced having an LA office presence, as well as Klayton announcing the construction of his new studio, documenting it with frequent updates on his Instagram profile/stories. Along with the birth of a new home and studio, Klayton welcomed his 3rd son, Orion, joining his twins Phoenix and Jericho.
OFFICE SHENANIGANS: BALLOON STORAGE
While Kevin (Head of Marketing & Gaming) was away on business the FiXT Team invaded his office and gave it a makeover, transforming the space into an official FiXT Balloon Storage Closet. The prank took several off-the-clock hours, a couple hundred dollars and a few sore, slightly cracked fingers but the look on Kevin’s face when we gave him a box cutter and let him go Samurai swordsman on the room stuffed full of confetti and balloons was well worth the nearly week long effort.
FIXT FAM/FAN MEET-UPS
In May while on their way to the 2019 Music Biz Conference in Nashville TN some of the FiXT Iowa team met up with FIXT super fans Nicholas and Carrie and the Korbel Clan. The Korbels made a separate visit to FiXT Iowa HQ later in the year and Nicholas, his mother and their crew made a special trip to the Iowa HQ in October for Nick’s birthday.
MUSIC BIZ 2019
In May several members of the FiXT Team traveled to Music Biz 2019 in Nashville, joining one of the largest music industry conferences in the world hosted at the exquisite JW Marriot. The conference included featured presentations from some of the leading professionals in the industry like Def Jam Recording’s Paul Rosenburg, Paramore’s Hayley Williams, and ’90s artist Ben Folds and a slew of informative sessions looking into the ever-evolving music industry.
LOS ANGELES ARTIST MEET-UP
In August FiXT & FiXT Neon artists Megan McDuffee, Ace Marino, I Will Never Be The Same, The Anix, and Klayton caught up with FiXT VP James Rhodes, Head of Marketing/Gaming Kevin Talley and newest addition to the FiXT team Preston (aka Iron Skullet) at FiXT HQ in Los Angeles. FiXT officially welcomed newcomers Ace Marino, Megan McDuffee and Iron Skullet to the FiXT family and colluded on possible collaborations, projects, and a shared vision for the future of FiXT.
SYNTH RIDERS & FIXT MEETING
Earlier this year Klayton, James, Kevin, and Preston met with Synth Rider developers ahead of an exclusive in-game Celldweller track premiere. The single “Into The Void” was released in a special edited format just for the retro game in late October. The two teams met in October and Klayton got a chance to try out the VR game weeks before dropping the single; “Into The Void” joins a long list of FiXT and FiXT Neon tracks featured in the game, available for gameplay.
POSITION MUSIC 20TH ANNIVERSARY
Klayton and James met up with some of the FiXT and FiXT Neon artists at the Position Music 20th Anniversary Party in Los Angeles, including The Anix, Megan McDuffee, and others! Position Music shares a long history with FiXT, and has been am valued partner in licensing music to Film, TV, and Video Games.
TWITCHCON 2019
In September Kevin and Max made the long journey to San Diego for TwitchCon 2019! The pair met up with FiXT Steam Team member RicinCakes and got the chance to shake hands with Halo Music composer Tom Salta. Kevin and Max also traveled back in time to save their families’ futures and the high school version of Kevin’s mom tried to kiss him before he got on stage at a prom in the mid-’50s and shredded on the guitar.
From everyone in the FiXT Team – thanks for a great 2019 and we can’t wait to share our vision for the future of the company with you all in 2020 and beyond!
