The journey to Cassetter’s upcoming full-length album Entropy continues with a hook-heavy creation led by Mari Kattman on “Nexus.” Kattman’s spirited vocal style joins in easily with the cyberpunk atmosphere of Cassetter’s songwriting for a track that is equal parts light and dark, focused and carefree.

My idea for the Nexus track was to mix cyberpunk vibes with some deep house elements. I wanted to build a contrast between melodic verse and a bass-oriented chorus. Mari fit very well into that concept, proving that she is a talented and versatile vocalist.

It was really fun to work on this remix for Essenger. I’m very partial to the style of synthwave myself (my whole SEQUENCE EP was derived from it largely, and a lot of my songs have heavy influence from the style), so was easy to meld the styles together. I can really see this working well on the dancefloor and hope my fans and the drum & bass scene and synthwave scenes appreciate it!
