Circle of Dust, the iconic ’90s Industrial project from Klayton returns with the 25th Anniversary Mix of the 1995 debut album track “Onenemy”

March 9, 2020
Artist News, Artist Press
Circle of Dust, Onenemy

Circle of Dust, the iconic ’90s Industrial project from Klayton (best known as Celldweller) returns with the 25th Anniversary Mix of the 1995 debut album track “Onenemy”. This marks the first single from an upcoming 25th Anniversary Edition of the album, featuring all-new ‘mixes’ of the tracks, resurrection on original gear with separate audio tracks for the first time in over 20 years. Each song from the album will also get new remixes from modern artists. Available from indie label FiXT.

“In late 2019, I stumbled across a floppy disk with SYSEX backups of my original Alesis D4 drum module and E-MU Proteus 1 sound module. For the first time in 25 years, I realized I had the ability to reconnect everything from my original 1995 Circle of Dust album. I imported my ADAT recordings and went to work on mixing the songs from the ground up, excited that I finally had the ability to make these mixes sound like I heard them in my head in 1995. After seeing some of your positive reactions to my Instagram stories as I was working, I decided to officially release the new mixes for those of you that might enjoy them as well.

Don’t worry, the 2016 remasters will remain online as-is. :)”

FiXT Announces Signing of Trap-Metal Artist, Becko

March 6, 2020
Artist News, Artist Press
Becko

FiXT is proud to announce the signing of Italian trap-metal artist Becko.

Rising from the ashes of post-hardcore band Hopes Die Last, Italian multi-genre producer, musician, and vocalist Marco Calanca created Becko as a solo project, uniting influences of EDM, Hip-Hop, Industrial and Emo-Rock. With previous releases under his belt with labels ranging from Warner Italy and Universal Italy, to Monstercat, Lowly Palace, and Smash the House since 2014, Becko found a new home in early 2020, signing a multi-album deal with the independent, artist-owned/operated USA-based electronic-rock label FiXT, founded by genre-pioneering artist & producer Klayton (Celldweller, Circle of Dust). The Rome based Becko is now preparing to release a steady stream of singles throughout 2020 leading up to a full-length album later in the year.

Kicking off the signing, Becko enters the world of trap-metal with his 5-song EP, Genesis, blending elements of hip-hop, metal, EDM, and alternative rock. Building a violent momentum of melodic screaming and rap vocals, dark gritty guitars, and heavy trap beats, Becko sweeps the listener skillfully through a dark crucible in “Genesis” and “1YearSunFree” before a convincing conclusion with the unforgettably catchy track “Dead End. The EP is rounded out by 2 cover songs as Becko delivers an EDM-Rock hybrid version of Bring Me The Horizon’s “Mantra” and a bass-heavy Alt-Rock inspired cover of Linkin Park’s “Crawling”.

Discussing the signing, label-owner Klayton had this to say:

“I’ve been excited by the surge of interest in trap-metal but to me the greatest missing element was ‘metal’. I was in the process of assembling a project combining blown-out trap beats, heavy guitar riffs, screaming, melody and cool electronics, because I fully believe this is the sound of the future. Then from out of the blue (Italy, actually) comes an email from Becko submitting his music to the FiXT label. I quickly sidelined the project I was assembling, because what he was already doing on his own, was exactly what I was hearing in my head. I couldn’t be more excited to have him as part of the FiXT family, and we’re primed and ready to get his music into ears around the world.”

– Klayton

“I have been in love with FiXT for a long time, but was not ready to approach them as I didn’t have tracks that fit their multi-genre electronic-rock sound. After creating Genesis, the first thing I did was message Klayton (Celldweller) for his feedback, and just a couple months later I’m signed to FiXT. So amazed to share my path with them and the super cool and talented artists they have in their roster!” – Becko

Becko – “Dead-End” (Official Music Video)

To support the signing of Becko, FiXT has also re-released 30 of Becko’s previously independent back catalog tracks. Updated with fresh artwork, the re-releases include his 2017 cover-song album CVRS, along with combining and remastering the audio to his previous EPs Reborn (2017) and Digital Heaven (2018) and the single “Void” (2018) into a new album titled A.T. Field.

CVRS is a tour-de-force, eclectic compilation of cover songs from genre-defying artist Becko. When he’s not challenging genre rules with his original music, Becko showcases his wide range of talents with other people’s songs.

Becko’s A.T. Field is a dynamic powerhouse of songs he originally released from 2017 and 2018, showcasing his range of alternative electronic pop, with early signs of his harder trap-metal edge that he would later form on Genesis.

Klayton Releases Dark Movie Score for “The Dunes”

March 2, 2020
Artist News, Artist Press
Klayton, The Dunes

The Dunes (Official Motion Picture Score) marks the first feature-length film score from artist & composer Klayton. Best known for his high-octane electronic-rock project Celldweller, Klayton approached The Dunes with elaborate sound design and pristine production, to create a disturbingly ambient and frenetic audio companion to the psychological thriller. Using pulsing rhythms and cinematic tension, Klayton delivers a sense of unease with creeping beats and airy synths across the score, providing the perfect soundtrack for a descent into madness.

“My mind has always naturally understood the concept of audio/visual synchronization, so scoring to picture has been something I knew I would organically venture into. Having the opportunity to score my first feature film gave me the license I needed to explore new sonic and compositional territories. From an electric drill on a cello, custom built instruments, extreme metal blastbeats, and a copious amount of modular synths, my aim was to have the score become more diverse and erratic throughout the film, to follow the arc of the main character ‘Gerald’.”

The Anix Discusses Artistic Struggle & ’90s Nostalgia With Release of New Single “Still Standing”

February 28, 2020
Artist News, Artist Press
The Anix

The Anix pulls nostalgically back into the angst-ridden self-awareness of ’90s grunge with “Still Standing.” Exploring lyrical themes of failure, loss, and struggle, The Anix weaves his signature emotive vocals, gritty guitars, and abrasive drums through “Still Standing”, providing a haunting illustration of the struggle to survive off of your own creativity.

Lyrically, the song is about my internal struggle of failing in the music business, signing bad deals, getting gear stolen on tour, losing relationships, friends, money-essentially it’s about the life of an artist.”

– The Anix

“Still Standing” is a track I wrote further emphasizing my appreciation for the darker grunge alt-rock era in the early 90’s. This minimalistic, fuzz soaked guitar riff driven vibe is what captured my attention in High School and got me interested in playing in bands. I wanted to make a song that is so simple, anyone could pick up a guitar or synth and play it, yet add a level of detail in terms of the programming to elevate it into a style suitable for the future of the genre.

PRIZM kicks off 2020 with their irresistible new track “Move Me”

February 28, 2020
Artist News
Move Me, PRIZM

Dallas-based pop duo PRIZM is kicking off 2020 in a big way with their irresistible new track, “Move Me.” This funky, hook-heavy piece pays tribute to the group’s ‘80s inspiration, marrying authentic throwback synths and songwriting with a clean vocal style that feels perfectly at home in the modern era. Don’t be surprised to find yourself singing along to the spirited chorus section and humming “Move Me” long after you listen.

Move Me started as a simple track idea back in 2019. Other ideas came and went but we just kept coming back to it. Our recent releases all dealt with heavier topics like, heartbreak and nostalgia so we were eager to get back to something more care-free. Something that just makes you want to move. So in January 2020 we locked ourselves in our Fort Worth studio and made it happen. We want this to be an unplugging song for people, whether it’s a workout or night out. We hope you feel it!

– PRIZM

“Move Me” follows hot on the heels of PRIZM’s brand new music video for “All Night,” and together they set the stage for a breakout year for the group.
