After my first listen of After Dark, I was so inspired by the epic movie-like feeling of the record. When I was invited to remix “Downfall” I knew I had to maintain the epic feeling while adding my sonic twists. It was really fun to work on this remix for Essenger. I’m very partial to the style of synthwave myself (my whole SEQUENCE EP was derived from it largely, and a lot of my songs have heavy influence from the style), so was easy to meld the styles together. I can really see this working well on the dancefloor and hope my fans and the drum & bass scene and synthwave scenes appreciate it!

“Just a few days before the album had to be turned in, I started working on a new track. Given the circumstances, I knew it would have a slim chance of making the album but by the end of the day it turned into one of my favorite songs I’ve written. I had a really strong rock chorus but it didn’t quite fit the aesthetic of my voice. I’ll totally pretend I didn’t write it with Scandroid in mind but I got lucky and he hopped on the track, delivering a killer performance and exceeding my expectations with his signature vocoder lines and his own verse.” – Essenger
